I have always been very interested in psychology, probably due to the fact that I have a lot of it. I am bi-polar type 1, I have OCD, and I have crippling social anxiety. I’m sure there is even more going on in my head, but these are the ones I have been diagnosed with.
Because of my interest in the study of how the human mind works, and because I am currently writing a fictional book about a psychiatrist, I have done a lot of research. I mean a lot of research. Since I am writing it in the first person, I want to make extra sure that her methods and thought processes are believable.
Anyway, as I have been doing all this researching and studying, I have learned a great deal about my disorders, and about the ways that I think. I have also noticed that some of the best, most inspiring things that I’ve found online are first hand accounts from people with psychological disorders, and professionals in the field of psychology.
So as a thank you to those of you out there who have blogged, posted, or done an AMA on Reddit, I have decided to share my own personal account from Inside of Jen’s Head.
